The school day begins at 8:05 A.M. and ends at 2:40 P.M.
Children arriving after 8:20 A.M. are marked LATE.
When picking up your child from school at the end of the day, please do not do so before 2:20 as instruction is still in progress until that time.
Regular attendance is essential for academic success and is REQUIRED BY LAW. Excessive absences and/or lateness can result in retention.
When students are absent, upon their return, parents MUST send a note (phone calls do not excuse an absence), explaining the reason for the absence and the date(s) of absence. A doctor's note must accompany a child returning after 3 days.
Buses
NO BUS CHANGES are to be made without approval from the office. Children are to go home on their own bus everyday. A parentmust send a note to school stating the reason for the need to have the child go home on a different bus. In the event of an emergency, please call the school.
If your child does not arrive home at the usual time and there is no answer at school, please call transportation at 577-6490.
To ensure the safety of all of the children, please review the following bus guidelines with your child(ren):
Arrive at the bus stop 5 minutes early every morning and behave in a safe, responsible manner.
Take your seat upon boarding the bus and remain properly seated until arrival at school.
Be respectful to/obey the bus driver at all times.
"Play fighting", shouting, cursing, throwing objects in or out of the bus, being out of your seat, and bothering other students are not permitted. These are serious distractions for the bus driver and can cause unsafe conditions for all on the bus.
Do not put any part of your body outside the bus window.
Take care of your bus like you would your home. Do not litter it, damage it, or write on it.
Do not eat on the bus.
If crossing the road when getting off the bus, remember to cross in front of the bus where you are visible to the driver.
Any fighting on the bus will result in an immediate loss of bus privileges for five days.
Remember riding the bus is a privilege that we do not ever want you to lose!
Discipline
When a child is exhibiting inappropriate behavior, the classroom teacher will handle the situation and notify the parent.
If necessary, the teacher will involve the Assistant Principal and the parent will be notified.
Should the inappropriate behavior continue, the Principal will become involved and the parent called in for a conference.
Continued inappropriate behavior can result in an in-school suspension or an out-of-school suspension, depending on the severity of the situation.
The school district has a zero tolerance policy regarding weapons, acts of violence and threats. Immediate action will be taken, an automatic suspension will occur.
